Mckenna Grace’s casting follows a wave of excitement for the franchise, which reached a box-office milestone with Scream VI, earning over US$108 million domestically and bringing the series’ worldwide total to US$900 million.

Grace, a star who began acting at five, has built a reputation as one of Hollywood’s most talented young performers. Her breakout role in Gifted alongside Chris Evans set the stage for a career filled with standout performances, including playing younger versions of iconic characters in Captain Marvel and I, Tonya. She will next appear in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s Regretting You, starring opposite Allison Williams.

Plot details for Scream 7 remain under wraps, but reports indicate a focus on Sidney Prescott and her family. Isabel May will play Sidney’s teenage daughter, while franchise veterans Courteney Cox and Patrick Dempsey are reportedly in talks to reprise their roles. Cox, a staple of the series since its inception, is expected to return as journalist Gale Weathers, while Dempsey may step back into his role as Detective Mark Kincaid. Sidney’s renewed prominence as a lead character has been a major draw for Campbell, who previously sat out Scream VI due to a pay dispute.

Production for Scream 7 is set to begin in December. As the series gears up for this new chapter, fans can expect a blend of classic Scream elements and fresh twists, promising to keep the franchise as thrilling as ever. Scream 7 slashes its way into cinemas on 27 February 2026.
