Indie game El Paso, Elsewhere, is headed for the big screen, with LaKeith Stanfield (Knives Out) in talks to star and produce alongside Di Bonaventura Pictures (Transformers, G.I. Joe) and Colin Stark (Yasuke). With its intriguing premise of a reality-bending motel and supernatural monsters, the game is a worthy candidate for an adaptation.
El Paso, Elsewhere follows vampire hunter James Savage (Stanfield) as he ventures into a reality-bending motel and fights off supernatural creatures to confront his inner demons and enigmatic ex-girlfriend, Janet, before she executes a world-ending ritual.
The retro-inspired game recently released in 2023 from developer Strange Scaffold, backed by BAFRA-nominee Xalavier Nelson Jr, and previously put out titles like Stranger Things VR, and An Airport for Aliens Currently Run by Dogs.
Heavily inspired by the Max Payne games in 2001, which also follows a vigilante hunting someone down, El Paso is a third-person shooter with plenty of retro-style graphics, and a complex story. The game was critically acclaimed, and nominated for multiple gaming-related awards.
Casting and more plot details are expected to surface soon, so stay tuned for more updates.
