‘Knives Out 3’ Reportedly Set To Start Filming This Year

The charismatic detective Benoit Blanc is set to return in the third instalment of the Knives Out series, with Daniel Craig reprising his acclaimed role.

Deadline reports that director Rian Johnson is gearing up to begin filming Knives Out 3 later this year. This follows the success of 2022’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, the first in the series to be distributed by Netflix, alongside a successful limited theatrical run.

The Knives Out films, renowned for their intricate mysteries and high-profile casts, pay homage to classic detective stories in the style of Agatha Christie. The series has featured notable stars like Ana de Armas, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis, Janelle Monáe, Edward Norton, and Kate Hudson. These films uniquely blend complex whodunits with sharp social commentary on the ultra-wealthy and privileged, all observed through the investigative lens of Blanc.

Details about Knives Out 3 remain under wraps, with no additional cast members announced beyond Craig. Rian Johnson, in an October 2023 interview with The Wrap, expressed enthusiasm about the project’s progress, particularly following the end of the Writers Guild of America strike.

“It’s coming along. I obviously couldn’t work during the strike, and now that it’s over, I’m diving in full force, and so it’s coming along. I’ve got the premise, I’ve got the setting, I’ve got what the movie is in my head. It’s just a matter of writing the damn thing.”

Fans of the series eagerly await more information about the upcoming sequel, including casting details and a potential release date. In the meantime, viewers can enjoy Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery, currently available for streaming on Netflix.
