‘Wednesday’ Season 3 Reunites Winona Ryder, Jenna Ortega, And Tim Burton

Now that the Upside Down is no longer, Winona Ryder is adding Wednesday to her schedule. The Beetlejuice Beetlejuice actor, who most recently starred in Stranger Things 5, has been cast in a guest role for Season 3 of Wednesday, reuniting her with Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton, who continues to produce the hit Netflix show. The former played Ryder’s daughter in the 2024 sequel, while Burton served as director.

It won’t be the only homecoming, either – Al Gough and Miles Millar, creators and showrunners of Wednesday, wrote the screenplay for the film. “When it comes to Outcasts, Winona Ryder is the GOAT (greatest of all time),” said the duo. “Her legendary partnership with Tim Burton has defined some of cinema’s most unforgettable characters.”

Added Burton, “I am so happy that Winona has joined us, she fits right into this world. And she’s a dear friend. I always feel lucky to work with her.”

The casting news comes after another frequent Burton collaborator, Eva Green, was announced to play Aunt Ophelia, Morticia Addams’ (Catherine Zeta-Jones) sister, with exact details on Ryder’s character kept under wraps. Alongside the pair, four new additions will star in the forthcoming outing: Chris Sarandon (The Princess Bride), Noah Tyler (Peaky Blinders), Oscar Morgan (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms), and Kennedy Moyer (Roofman).

A release date has yet to be set for Wednesday Season 3, which is currently being shot in Dublin, Ireland, as with previous seasons. Ortega will return as Wednesday Addams, alongside Emma Myers as her best friend and roommate Enid, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Joy Sunday as Bianca Barclay, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene, Georgie Farmer as Ajax, Luis Guzmán as Gomez, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Santiago, and more.

It’s also unclear whether the third season will follow in its predecessor’s shoes and release as a two-parter, but the format change did little to affect viewership numbers – the first half of Season 2 racked up a record-breaking 50 million views in its first four days, and the entire season is now Netflix’s fifth most-watched English language TV season of all time.
