One Piece is the gift that never stops giving. As announced during One Piece Day 2026, an annual celebration that’s usually not held on the actual anniversary date (22 July), two new anime films are in the works — One Piece Film God Valley, slated for opening in summer 2027, and One Piece Film Baad, debuting in 2029.
The former will adapt the titular arc from the original manga, focusing on an epic battle that took place 38 years ago on the island of God Valley, featuring the Rocks Pirates, the Roger Pirates, the Marines, world nobles, and other factions. It also fits into the currently airing Elbaph Arc, which returned to the small screen on 5 April and is described as such:
“After a daring escape from the Future Island Egghead, the Straw Hat Crew set their course for a legendary destination. Joined by the mighty Giant Warrior Pirates, they finally reach Elbaph, the long-awaited Land of Giants. New encounters with Giants, and long-hoped-for reunions unfold. A colossal new chapter begins as the crew heads into an adventure unlike anything before, all in the pursuit of the ultimate treasure, the ‘One Piece!‘”
No plot details were shared about the second theatrical project, but creator Eiichiro Oda drew the title text for it. Both movies are being released as 30th-anniversary plans for the manga and anime in 2027 and 2029, respectively, with the English-language trailers teasing similar release windows.
Separately, Netflix has confirmed four new cast additions to the third season of its live-action series adaptation. Emilo Sakraya (Rheingold) will play Koza, while Omid Abtahi (The Mandalorian), Jamie Ward (The Gentlemen), and Nabeel Khan (Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) have been tapped for the roles of Toto, Pell, and Chaka. Joining them are previously announced newcomers Cole Escola as Bon Clay, Xolo Maridueña as Portgas D. Ace, Daisy Head as Miss Doublefinger and Awdo Awdo as Mr. 1.
Iñaki Godoy, who portrays Monkey D. Luffy, Emily Rudd (Nami), Mackenyu (Zoro), Jacob Romero Gibson (Usopp), Taz Skyler (Sanji), Morgan Davies (Koby), and Jeff Ward (Buggy), Ilia Isorelys Paulino (Alvida) will reprise their roles in the third season, alongside returning Season 2 stars Charithra Chandran (Princess Vivi), Mikaela Hoover (Tony Tony Chopper), Joe Manganiello (Mr. 0), Lera Abova (Miss All Sunday), and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Alabasta King Nefertari Cobra).
Season 3, officially titled One Piece: The Battle of Alabasta, follows Luffy and the Straw Hat crew as they venture into the titular desert kingdom of Alabasta, the homeland of Princess Vivi. It premieres in 2027, with a logline that reads, “A rebellion threatens to tear the nation apart, fueled in secret by one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, the ruthless Sir Crocodile, and his underground syndicate Baroque Works, who seek to conquer Alabasta for themselves.”
In the same year, Wit Studio’s The One Piece remake will also set sail in February. The “fresh take” on the beloved franchise is set to adapt the first 50 chapters of the original manga — partway through the Baratie Arc, where Sanji first appears — across seven episodes, and mark the return of Japanese voice actor Mayumi Tanaka as Luffy, who has voiced the character since his introduction.
