Day O! Winona Ryder Returns As Lydia In Beetlejuice Sequel 36 Years Later

Get ready for a blast from the past as Winona Ryder channels her 1988 style in the highly anticipated sequel to Beetlejuice. The Stranger Things actress was recently spotted on set, donning jet-black hair and rocking head-to-toe black attire, reminiscent of her memorable character Lydia Deetz.

The excitement surrounding Beetlejuice 2 is at an all-time high, with production commencing in London just last week. While the plot details have been kept under wraps, the first glimpse of Winona Ryder in action has ignited a flurry of anticipation among fans. Recent reports have surfaced that Jenna Ortega, known for her role in Wednesday, is in talks to portray Lydia’s daughter, further intensifying the buzz surrounding the film.

Apart from Ortega, it was revealed last week that Monica Bellucci has officially joined the project as Beetlejuice’s wife. Fans can also rejoice as Michael Keaton is expected to reprise his iconic role as the devious bio-exorcist.

Reuniting with Ryder is Catherine O’Hara, stepping back into the shoes of Lydia’s mother in the upcoming sequel. And joining her are two new characters, played by Justin Theroux and Willem Dafoe, with the latter portraying a law enforcement officer from the afterlife.

In the original Beetlejuice, Winona Ryder shared the screen with an incredible ensemble cast, including Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis, Catherine O’Hara, Jeffrey Jones, Glenn Shadix, and Michael Keaton. The darkly comedic tale follows a mischievous spirit who aids a recently deceased couple in their quest to rid their home of an insufferable family.

The sequel, directed by Burton, is set to haunt the theatres on 6 September 2024. This release date holds special significance as it marks the return of the beloved horror-comedy franchise exactly 36 years after its original theatrical debut.
