It seems like subscription services are slowly becoming a norm in the gaming industry, with services like EA Pass and Xbox Game Pass offering players a selection of game for a monthly fee.
It has also been rumoured that Ubisoft has plans to unveil their own subscription service during E3 2019, though it seems that with an untimely leak on the Ubisoft store, the proverbial cat is now out of the bag.
According to VG247, the leak was first spotted by members of the ResetEra forum who spotted a listing on the store’s page named Ubisoft Pass. The listing has since been taken down but VG247 says that a whole page specially dedicated for the Ubisoft Pass also went live for a short while before being taken down.
Interestingly, the placeholder image was used for the ‘Premium’ version of the Ubisoft Pass which leads us to believe that there will be multiple tiers available for Ubisoft’s subscription service, with each tier providing a different level of access to games. Though this is all speculation for now, as Ubisoft has yet to release an official statement regarding the Ubisoft Pass.
With their library of games such as Assassin’s Creed and Watch Dog’s, Ubisoft will be more than capable of supporting a subscription service with multiple tiers. We’re just curious to see if the highest tier will include early access to upcoming games as well.
Fortunately, we will not have to wait too long as E3 is right around the corner and it is highly likely that Ubisoft will be talking about the Ubisoft Pass during their showcase on June 10, 1pm PT.
