The New 76139 LEGO 1989 Batmobile Will Make Tim Burton Proud

Calling all Bat-fans! LEGO has officially announced what could be the greatest memento for Batman‘s 80th anniversary, especially since it is also incidentally the 30th anniversary of Tim Burton’s classic Batman in 1989.

Leaked images of the 76139 LEGO 1989 Batmobile have been circulating the net weeks before its official release, but now that we’re getting it in fully-rendered glory, we can’t help but just stare googly-eyed at it.

How about a cool 360 view?

As we’ve known before, the LEGO 1989 Batmobile is a big build, coming in at 3,306 pieces, almost akin to that of a LEGO Technic build.

But what you get is a screen-accurate rendition of Michael Keaton Batman’s iconic vehicle, from the classic bat-wing-like spoilers on the back, all the way down to the various minutiae such as the pipes coiling around on the underside.

Additional features include a shiny new windshield that slides open to reveal a two-seater cockpit, a pair of machine guns that pop up from the front, as seen in the movie, a rotating display stand, as well as a plaque that describes the movie, the Minifigs and the Batmobile itself.

Speaking of Minifigs, there are, of course, three, and can be proped up on a display stand.

These are, of course, familiar faces. There is Michael Keaton’s Batman, whose iconic rubberised cowl has also been replicated faithfully (it even looks like you wouldn’t be able to rotate his head with it on); Kim Basinger’s Vicki Vale, as well as the also-iconic Jack Nicholson’s Joker, whose infectious-yet-creepy smile is also enough to make us beam from ear to ear.

But of course, since it’s Batman’s 80th and 1989 Batman‘s 30th, it wouldn’t be enough to release just one LEGO Batmobile now, would it? There’s also the 40433 LEGO 1989 Batmobile Limited Edition, which is made to accompany the larger 76139.

The 76139 LEGO 1989 Batmobile will officially go on sale from November 29, 2019, during the Black Friday weekend. It will go for US$249.99 (S$379.90 in Singapore).

The 40433 LEGO 1989 Batmobile Limited Edition will not be on sale separately, but will be a gift-with-purchase for customers who purchase the 76139 between November 29 – December 5 (while stocks last).
