Square Enix Releases Official Final Fantasy XIV-Themed Masks In Japan

The act of masking up has taken on a geeky twist, with the likes of DC superheroes Flash, Supergirl, Superman, and Black Lightning donning face masks in last year’s Arrowverse posters. Elsewhere in the game universe, Square Enix is bringing the world of Final Fantasy XIV to fans in Japan, who can soon head outdoors with a mask themed after the popular MMORPG.

According to Famitsu, the masks are now open for pre-order, with two different designs up for grabs. The first comes decked out in black and is adorned with the FFXIV meteor, while the second alternative features the game’s signature job icons against a grey background. Both offer the combination of cotton, polyester, and polyurethane, and will be priced at 1,000 yen each (S$12.45 / US$9.35).

Alongside the themed masks, the Tokyo-based game company is also releasing a 2,500 yen (S$31.10 / US$23.40) case for users to store their masks when not in use.

Depending on personal preference, the designs might be a little too bland for some, but the touch of subtlety helps to add some muted elegance without the need for overly-garish, vibrant hues. That brand of fashion, we reckon, would be more of a blast for the more unapologetic, unabashed enthusiasts than the general crowd.
