While it’ll still be a while till moviegoers get to see Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2, given that it only began production in June, things are looking up for the sequel starring your friendly neighbourhood Miles Morales.
Much better than the original film, in fact. According to producer Christopher Miller, he is positive that the upcoming sequel will do better than the first Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, going so far as to say it make the first look “quaint” by comparison.
Of course, many, surely even the sequel’s cast and crew themselves, know that such a feat will be a hard one to top. The original Spider-Verse was met with critical acclaim for a myriad of reasons, mainly for producing one of the strongest Spider-Man stories in history to date. Its technical qualities such as art style and music certainly elevated it to such great heights as well.
As such, all eyes will be on the upcoming sequel – and Miller’s words – to deliver on the promise of being not simply similar, but a better experience overall.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse 2 will drop in theatres on 7 October 2020. Till then, fans of the new wall-crawler can look forward to the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales standalone game coming to PlayStation 5, which releases Holiday 2020.
