Sony To Continue Offering Support To PlayStation 4 For Another 4 Years

While many were eagerly awaiting the release of Sony’s newest PlayStation 5, many current PlayStation 4 owners remained worried that their current consoles will soon turn obsolete following the next-generation console’s release.

In response, Sony CEO Jim Ryan (via Washington Post) has reassured PS4 players by announcing that the PS4 will still be “supported” for up to four years after the launch of the PS5, with many next-gen games including Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales and Horizon Forbidden West being made available for the PS4. With this, PlayStation 4 users will be able to enjoy newly-released console games no matter the console they are on.

He reiterated his point in another interview with Games Industry where he noted that the “PS4 community…is going to be incredibly important to us for many years to come” and that Sony intends to “keep that going and to love and respect the PS4 community” while moving at the same time “into a world of game experiences that are only possible on PS5.”

It is heartening to see Sony continuing to support its players on its current-gen console, with many new games for players on the PS4 to look forward to.
