ROG Strix Scar 17 Special Edition Gaming Laptop Launches In Singapore

Republic of Gamers (ROG) has launched its Strix Scar 17 Special Edition (SE) gaming laptop in Singapore. The 17.3-inch high-performance laptop, packed with latest-gen components and top-end cooling to help eSports gamers reach their best, retails for S$4,698.

This version of the ROG Strix Scar 17 SE is a tournament-ready powerhouse machine with a 12th Gen Intel i9-12950HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti Laptop 8GB GPU. The CPU has a thermal design power (TDP) of 65W that can be pushed up to 175W for a limited time, while the GPU can reach a maximum total graphics power (TGP) of 150W. These high numbers mean it can run heavy processing loads without problems.

Its 17.3-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) IPS screen gives you fast and clear gameplay visuals with a 240Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time. It has 100 percent DCI-P3 colour gamut, with Adaptive Sync and Dolby Vision for accurate colour reproduction. The dual-channel 32GB DDR5 RAM and 1TB of PCIe 4.0 SSD storage ensure that everything loads fast to meet your equally fast reaction times.

To keep everything running ‘cool’ at peak performance, the Strix SCAR 17 SE uses a special Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal compound for its CPU and GPU, which lets them run at around 15 degrees lower compared to traditional thermal pastes. Together with its custom vapour chamber, four heatsinks with 0.1mm copper fins, and updated fans, the cooling system helps keep the machine going at top performance even during marathon gaming sessions.

Externally, the chassis sports a distinct cyberpunk-ish aesthetic with its per-key RGB backlit keyboard as well as a specially-developed invisible ink on the lid. The ink has a matte metallic texture under normal lighting, but turns a striking green and blue under UV. The cryptic text also holds clues to SCAR Runner, a parkour game set in the ROG SAGA universe.

For audio, the laptop has four Dolby Atmos-certified speakers with two-way AI noise cancellation built in, while for internet connectivity, it has WiFi 6E and a 2.5Gbps Ethernet port for staying connected anywhere. It supports Bluetooth 5.2 and a slew of connectivity ports: two USB-A, one USB-C with DisplayPort and power delivery, one Thunderbolt 4, one HDMI 2.1 for 4K 120Hz output, and one 3.5mm audio jack. Powering all these in the 3kg machine is a 90Wh battery.

The ROG Strix Scar 17 Special Edition (G733CW-RTX3070Ti) is available for S$4,698 from the ASUS Online Store.
