Consisting of 2,532 pieces, if you have a hunch that LEGO is slowly mining away at your childhood, you’re probably right. After all, seeing the success of the LEGO 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System, it should come as no surprise that LEGO is looking to eke out every dollar from many 70s / 80s kid.
The biggest highlight of this set would be the included cartridges which consist of Asteroids, Adventure, and Centipede.
Each can be taken out and inserted into the LEGO Atari 2600 console but the fun does not stop there.
To take things to the next level, each cartridge can be transformed into a small vignette representing each game.
If you’re already picturing yourself like the chap in the picture piecing the LEGO 10306 Atari 2600 together with a smile on your face, LEGO has already ensnared you. The entire set is a bit more self-contained as compared to the earlier Nintendo NES set.
In comparison, the LEGO Atari 2600 set comes paired with a controller but no television.
The LEGO Atari 2600 set is available from the 1st August 2022 with a recommended retail price of US$239.99. Interestingly the set’s release so happens to coincide with Atari’s 50th anniversary as well.
