The upcoming movie serves as a prequel to Pet Sematary, which was based on Stephen King’s 1983 novel of the same name. The movie will provide a backstory to the character Jud Crandall, and flesh out the history of the graveyard.

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines

In King’s novel, Jud Crandall is Louis Creed’s elderly neighbour who introduces him to the pet “sematary” hidden away in the woods behind his house and tells him about how the burial ground has supernatural abilities to resurrect the dead. Jud is later killed in the book.

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines stars Jackson White, Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Henry Thomas, Natalie Alyn Lind, Isabelle Star LaBlanc, Pam Grier, David Duchovny and Samantha Mathis.

The movie is Lindsey Anderson Beer’s directorial debut. Beer serves as co-writer alongside Jeff Buhler, with Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian serving as producers.

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines releases exclusively on Paramount Plus on 6 October.
