Overwatch 2 X Transformers Tie-Up Rolls Out Stylish Music Remix, Optimus Prime Reinhardt Skin & More

Following a series of brand collaborations including Cowboy Bebop and Diablo IV, Overwatch 2 has rolled out the official trailer for its upcoming Transformers crossover, first teased at the start of Season 11.

The animated, action-packed reel offers fans the best look at the character skins, coming on the heels of a sneak peek at the tie-up through a comic. Drenched in the old-school, nostalgic flair of the 1980s and 1990s, it transforms Ramattra, Illari, Reinhardt, and Bastion into iconic Hasbro robots. Reinhardt, Bastion, and Illari take on the Autobot mantle as Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Arcee, respectively, while Ramattra fittingly steps into the role of Decepticon leader Megatron.

There’s also a neat re-arrangement of the Transformers theme song, which should please fans of the long-running franchise. Unfortunately, the trailer doesn’t show how the skins will look in-game, so players are keeping their anticipation in check. They won’t have to wait for long, either, for the Overwatch 2 x Transformers collaboration starts tomorrow, 10 July (or 9 July, depending on time zone).

Blizzard’s hero shooter is currently in the midst of its eleventh season, which features a Power Rangers seasonal event and mythic skin that pays homage to the beloved series. The limited-time Summer Games event will also return on 10 July, bringing back modes like Lucioball and Winston Beach Volleyball, as well as summer-themed cosmetics.

While a Lego-themed Bastion skin marked the game’s first foray into IP crossovers, last year’s One Punch Man collaboration expanded the effort by adding a full set of anime-inspired offerings. Since then, Overwatch 2 has joined forces with various brands, even venturing into the waters of K-pop with popular girl group Le Sserafim and most recently, luxury labels like Porsche.
