The Fast & Furious franchise is revving its engines once more, this time looking to set the lap time on the small screen with its first TV series greenlit by Peacock.

As reported by Deadline, the series will be helmed by Mike Daniels (Sons of Anarchy) and Wolfe Coleman (911: Lone Star), who will serve as co-showrunners and pilot writers, with franchise alum Vin Diesel, who starred as Dominic Toretto in all 10 mainline films, serving as the show’s executive producer alongside Sam Vincent, Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz and Pavun Shetty, and Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Morgan Productions’ Chris Morgan.
While no plot details or casting information on the new series has been revealed, the streamer is looking to premiere the series by 2028, with its planned release also coinciding with the 11th and final entry in the Fast & Furious film franchise, Fast Forever, which is slated to hit theatres on 17 March 2028.
“For the last decade, we have realised that the fans have wanted more,” Diesel said at the NBCUniversal upfront in May, where he first revealed the TV project. “They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories. And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space… It became right when [Universal Studios chief] Donna Langley started to oversee it all, because that’s when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family would be protected in the TV space.”

The Fast & Furious franchise traces its roots to 2001 with the debut of its first film, The Fast and the Furious. The franchise would go on to see a total of 10 mainline films alongside a 2019 spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw, and an animated series, Fast & Furious Spy Racers, which ran for six seasons from 2019 to 2021. The franchise initially started as a grounded street-racing drama before expanding into a high-octane crime thriller that became increasingly absurd with every new entry, so it remains to be seen if this upcoming TV series will dial things back down or ramp it up even further.
