The Straw Hat Pirates are back, and in prime condition to boot. After premiering on 10 March, Season 2 of One Piece has racked up 16.8 million views globally in its first four days, making it the top-watched show on Netflix for the week of 9 to 15 March.

It’s a slight dip from the figures of the first season, which debuted to 18.5 million views in 2023 and saw renewed interest during the sequel’s opening weekend. The eight-episode adaptation now ranks at No. 7 with 3.6 million views, pulling ahead of Vladimir: Limited Series (3.5 million), The Night Agent: Season 3 (3.2 million), and Raw: 2026 (2.8 million).
Coming in second place was the nature docuseries The Dinosaurs (9.6 million views), narrated by Morgan Freeman, followed by Love Is Blind: The Reunion (8.9 million). Meanwhile, War Machine landed 44 million views to become the most-watched film for the week, with KPop Demon Hunters – fresh off two Oscar wins – re-entering the chart at No. 4, bringing its total weeks in top 10 to 39.
Based on Eiichiro Oda’s long-running manga, One Piece Season 2 was directed by Joe Tracz following several change of hands. The series continues the adventures of Luffy and his crew as they enter the dangerous Grand Line, introducing new allies such as Princess Vivi and Tony Tony Chopper. Lead star Iñaki Godoy reprises his role as Luffy in the sophomore outing, alongside Emily Rudd as Nami, Mackenyu as Zoro, Jacob Romero Gibson as Usopp, and Taz Skyler as Sanji. A third season is in development.

Elsewhere, Tomorrow Studios, the production company behind One Piece, is working on a live-action adaptation of cult anime Samurai Champloo. Original series creator Shinichirō Watanabe has on boarded the project, which is expected to chronicles the exploits of tea waitress Fuu, vagrant outlaw Mugen, and ronin Jin.
