Netflix’s ‘One Piece’ Season 2 Assembles Baroque Works Agents Mr. 9, Mr. 5, Miss Valentine & Mr. 3

The first batch of casting has set sail for Season 2 of Netflix’s One Piece series. The live-action adaptation will breathe life into four key members of Baroque Works, the criminal syndicate pulled directly from the source material: Mr. 9, Mr. 5, Miss Valentine, and Mr. 3.

Daniel Lasker (Raised by Wolves, Vagrant Queen) plays Mr. 9, while Camrus Johnson (Batwoman, Quiz Lady) is set to portray Mr. 5. Jazzara Jaslyn (Warrior, Lioness) will take on the role of Miss Valentine, with David Dastmalchian (Animals, Late Night With the Devil) rounding out the list as Mr. 3.

Introduced in the Arabasta Saga, the second saga of Eiichiro Oda’s original manga, the organisation was created by the Warlord Crocodile to destablise and conquer the Arabasta Kingdom. It conducted acts of espionage, sabotage, and murder over a span of years, and ultimately manipulated Arabasta into civil war.

Not much else is known about Season 2, barring the new addition of these new villains. Joe Tracz, writer and co-executive producer on Disney+’s adaptation of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, will also replace Steven Maeda as the co-showrunner for the sophomore outing.

One Piece Season 2

One Piece sailed to Netflix in August 2023, and was quickly renewed for Season 2. The eight-episode romp proved popular among audiences, topping the streamer’s English-language TV charts with 18.5 million views for its premiere, and landing the No. 1 spot in 46 countries. The record was later surpassed by the Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action series adaptation, which scored 21.2 million views in its opening week.

In Netflix’s One Piece, Iñaki Godoy stars as protagonist Monkey. D Luffy, leading an ensemble cast that includes Mackenyu, Emily Rudd, Jacob Romero, and Taz Skylar. All of them will reprise their roles for the second season, which is currently eyeing a 2025 release.

Anime fans also have another treat to look forward to. A “fresh new remake” of the long-running show is currently in the works at the streamer, with animation to be handled by WIT Studio, the powerhouse behind Spy x Family and the Attack on Titan‘s first three seasons. Titled The One Piece, it will follow the same story as the source material. There’s currently no word on a release date, casting details, or episode count, however.
