The cast of Wednesday delved into Season 1 fan theories during a clip released at Netflix TUDUM 2023, dropping hints for what (or, in this case, who) to expect in Wednesday Season 2.
Jenna Ortega (Scream VI, You), Emma Myers (Girl in the Basement, The Glades), Hunter Doohan (Soundwave, Your Honor), and Joy Sunday (Bad Hair, Dog) were impressed at the keen eye of fans who were able to pick up on small details from Crackstone’s fallen ring to the strange change in Lurch’s eye colour at the end of Season 1.
The only fan theory confirmed at the end is that a new Addams will be joining the family in Season 2.
If you were fans of the previous iterations of the Addams Family, you would be well aware of how extensive their family tree is. Grandmama and Cousin Itt were names thrown around by the cast, but whether they will be joining Wednesday Season 2 is still a mystery. In fact, there is the possibility that a new Addams Family member could be created for the show.
What we know is Ortega is strapping on her producer hat with plans to focus more on the show’s horror aspect, pivoting away from the romance subplots. Myers echoed her co-star’s sentiment, during an interview with Variety, that Wednesday needs a vacation from romance.
“As far as love interests go for Wednesday, I feel like at least for a second season, she needs to take her season of singleness. She just had a whole fiasco with her men, she’s got to lay it off for a little bit. I would be deterred from dating anybody if I had gone through that.”
With the raving success of Season 1, Wednesday Season 2 has big shoes to fill.
