Peaky Blinders might have ended with Season 6, but there’s one last ride in store, as the Peaky Blinders film is set to go into production this September, according to screenwriter Stephen Knight.
And star Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer) is the most excited of them all, with Knight saying that he “definitely is returning for it,” and offered a much-needed update, “We’re shooting it in September just down the road in Digbeth.”
The Season 6 ending left potential plot threads for the film to explore, such as the complicated dynamics of the Shelby family and Tommy riding off to start a new life that were left open-ended. Peaky Blinders follows Tommy Shelby and his gang in Birmingham as they evade the law, which soon spirals into much darker exploits.
Knight also teased that “the film is gonna be a step up again, and it’s gonna be great that Peaky fans can meet in one place and watch it. The budget will be bigger, but also because we know we’re ending this chapter, we’re all going to try to do our best.”
With a bigger budget and a story soon reaching its conclusion, the Peaky Blinders movie sounds promising enough, but the jury’s out until the film finally reaches cinemas.
