Lucasfilm Games Rebrand Begins New Era Of Star Wars Games

A brand new era of Star Wars games is coming under the new Lucasfilm Games banner. Announced on StarWars.com, the rebranded Lucasfilm Games banner will be home to all Star Wars video games including future games too.

Lucasfilm has been involved in gaming for decades with games like The Secret of Monkey Island, Grim Fandango, and of course, the slew of classic Star Wars titles attributed to the company.

The new announcement came with the launch of social channels using the new branding on Twitter and Facebook and teased fans of the franchise of a new and unprecedented phase of creativity.

A sizzle reel was also put out to showcase some of the Lucasfilm games made prior to the announcement like Star Wars Battlefront II and the latest Star Wars: Squadrons to name a few.

In recent years, the Star Wars video game license has been the property of game developer and publisher EA. Hence, today’s rebranding announcement and past revival do not mean Disney or Lucasfilm is getting back into direct game development as future titles will continue to be “developed in collaboration with the finest studios across the industry.”

As of date, the only confirmed Lucasfilm Games project for 2021 includes Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga.

EA has previously suggested that Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order was the start of an entirely new franchise, though additional details regarding a sequel have yet to be announced.
