Celebrating The Year Of The Dog With LEGO In Singapore

It’s close to Chinese New Year here in Singapore and given how it has become more of an extension to Christmas, most folks are still in the spirit of holiday shopping.

LEGO has been pretty much in tune with their local markets all these years and they’re not about to let up the momentum. Following the Year of the Rooster in 2017, the masters of bricks will naturally be following up with a Dog themed LEGO set to celebrate the change in Chinese Zodiacs.

However, this year round they would be rewarding fervent shoppers with an opportunity to own a 30 cm tall LEGO Dog build –

It’s definitely a keeper especially if your Chinese zodiac happens to be a dog as well!

Compared to the official LEGO 40235 Year of the Dog, this is the set to score.

And it can’t be simply focused on spending without drawing in the kids in the first place. LEGO had set up specially, in a rather suburban mall, a family build event to encourage parents to speed build a variety of LEGO “Dogs” the best way they see fit.

It’s reminiscent of the LEGO duck polybag and serves to illustrate how flexible LEGO with the limit being your imagination.

Based on the few sessions I hung around to observe, both kids and parents were equally tickled to realise how many combinations of dog builds were possible with just a few select bricks.

With the event ending on 4 February 2018, it might be a bit of a rush to check out the massive LEGO Dog on display at City Square Mall but you still score a chance the 30 cm tall LEGO Dog with every S$100 spend on any LEGO products in a single receipt islandwide.

You’d need to submit your entries by 25 February 2018 via SMS to 73333 in the follow format – LEGOLNY <Space> Receipt no <space> Name <space> NRIC.

Good luck!
