The recent It: Welcome to Derry has proven that Pennywise is as horrific on our phones and TV screens as he is in cinemas. With the extradimensional alien clown so loved by fans, they are hard-pressed to know if there will be a second season.
Sadly, while there are no current concrete plans to bring Pennywise back for another round of terror, series director Andy Muschietti (Mama, The Flash) revealed he has already mapped out the timeline for when seasons two and three will take place.

Fans learnt that although the Losers Club may triumph over Pennywise in their era, the clown doesn’t really die. In fact, it travels to another era in an attempt to rewrite history and erase the existence of the Losers Club as it feasts every 27 years. As such, it would seem that Muschietti has plans for this cycle to repeat itself in the years 1935 and 1908 – exactly 27 years apart.

For the uninitiated, the chronology of It and It Chapter Two took place in 1989 and in 2016, respectively, while It: Welcome to Derry takes place in 1962. An interview with Muschietti states that season two is “now in the works”, although the series renewal is not official, as he is currently working on The Brave and the Bold Batman movie.
It will take a while before we hear of how Pennywise will strike fear in the hearts of the Losers Club of 1935 and 1908 again, but for now, may our anticipation float in The Deadlights until the next season comes.
