In the wake of recent events, organisations across the globe have been doing what they can to help spread the message of racial equality. Itch.io, the digital marketplace for indie games, has followed suit with a huge bundle that allows players to show their support for the cause by playing more games for an extremely affordable price.
Launched earlier this week, the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality features over 1,300 indie games that can be purchased for a minimum of US$5, and will run from now until 16 June. All funds raised will be divided equally between the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the Community Bail Fund.
The overall goal for the campaign will be US$5 million, which was actually bumped up by ten times the amount from its original US$500,000 goal when it first launched. Do note that the games here will only be downloadable straight from itch.io itself, and will not be redeemable on Steam.
Regardless, this is no doubt an awesome bundle, as it includes indie heavyweights such as Celeste, Night in the Woods, and Tonight We Riot. It even includes digital versions of the core rulebooks of tabletop RPGs such as Troika! Numinous Edition and Lancer. If this isn’t amazing value for money, we don’t know what is.
In any case, the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality will go a long way to helping the affected communities in the US.
Marion has a serious RPG addiction. Sometimes it bleeds into real life; he forgets to sleep because he thinks he has a Witcher’s body clock. Forgive him in advance if he suddenly blurts out terms such as “Mind Flayer” and “Magic Missile”, because never once does he stop thinking about his next Dungeons & Dragons game.
