HBO Laughs At Their Own Game of Thrones Coffee Blunder

Fighting for the Iron Throne in Game of Thrones is indubitably an arduous task, requiring exorbitant amounts of coffee to supply its cast and crew for long nights of shooting. HBO certainly understands.

***Spoiler Warning for Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4 ahead***

In the latest episode of Game of Thrones Season 8, “The Last of the Starks”, the fatigue certainly took on the form of forgetting to remove certain elements from the set before rolling the camera.

This took place in aftermath of the war with the Army of the Dead in the previous episode, where the living emerged triumphant after a hard-fought Battle of Winterfell.

In typical GoT fashion, a large party was held in the Great Hall in celebration of the victory.

And amid all the blathering and boasting about riding dragons, killing wights and whatnot, a certain coffee cup from a dimension not of Westeros was spotted near the awkward Daenerys Targaryen.

And what did the GoT team do amidst all the scrutiny from the ever-observant fanbase? Laugh at their own mistake.

Set mistakes such as forgetting to remove your coffee before shooting is not uncommon. In fact, this Game of Thrones coffee mistake is nothing compared to seeing the full camera in the shot, as was the case in the interrogation scene in the Oscar-winning The Dark Knight by Christopher Nolan in 2008.

But good on HBO for being such good sports, for not only recognising their error but also rolling with the punches. We believe that the Mother of Dragons prefers tea to coffee in her attempt to take back the Iron Throne from Cersei Lannister.

☕️ anyone?
