Gruff Harrison Ford Reportedly Tapped As Dour General ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross in MCU Recast

Harrison Ford may be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)!

The actor has reportedly signed on to play General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, a character previously played by the late William Hurt in earlier MCU films.

Fans can expect to see Ford in a couple of Kevin Feige’s upcoming blockbusters including Thunderbolts, which is currently scheduled for release on 26 July 2024. The Indiana Jones actor will also appear as Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America: New World Order which is set to release on 3 May 2024.

Created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross first appeared in 1962’s Incredible Hulk #1. He was then first portrayed in live-action by Sam Elliot in Universal Pictures’ 2003 film Hulk. Hurt later took on the role in the 2008 film The Incredible Hulk. Hurt subsequently reprised the role in Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Endgame and Black Widow. However, Hurt passed away on 12 March 2022 at the age of 71.

Before making his MCU debut, fans will first see Ford in Indiana Jones 5 when it releases on 30 June 2023.
