Brosnan joins a growing cast of talented individuals including singer Camila Cabello, Billy Porter (Pose), Nicholas Galitzine (Chambers), and the one responsible for getting Frozen’s Let It Go stuck in everyone’s head, Idina Menzel (Frozen, Frozen 2).

Sony Picture’s retelling of Cinderella, which is written and directed by Kay Cannon, will feature the titular princess as “an ambitious young woman whose dreams are bigger than the world will allow.” The movie will be produced by James Corden and Leo Pearlman through their Fulwell73 banner, with Louise Rosner serving as executive producer for the film.

Cinderella is based on the classic fairy tale Cendrillon by Charles Perrault and tells the tale of a poor orphan and her fairy godmother. The fairy tale was then the basis for Disney’s 1950 animated movie Cinderella which has since spawned two live-action remakes – the Robert Iscove’s 1997 iteration starring Brandy and Whitney Houston, as well as Kenneth Branagh’s 2015 version starring Lily James.

Despite not being a professional singer, Brosnan is no stranger to musicals, having starred in Mamma Mia and Mamma Mia: Here We Go Again. We’re sure he’ll more than hold his own alongside Grammy-nominated singer/songwriter Cabello.
