‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Trailer Teases Sylvester Stallone Return, Nathan Fillion’s Live-Action MCU Debut

Star-Lord and crew are reuniting one last time in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, and they will have some company along for the ride. A new trailer for the upcoming superhero flick has offered a first look at some exciting returning characters, including Sylvester Stallone’s Starkar Ogord aka Starhawk.

The Ravager captain appears in a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment in the short, where he is seen in space with his helmet on. Amidst the mix of familiar footage from previous installments and some new action-packed scenes, Nathan Fillion makes his live-action Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) debut as a new character, replacing the blue-skinned alien that he voiced in the first movie.

While it’s unclear whether the Firefly star will be more than a cameo in the movie, it’s highly possible that Starhawk has more of an extended role here. The character was last seen reuniting with his elite team at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 after Yondu Udonta’s sacrifice, and it’d be exciting to see the Ravagers in action for the final superhero outing.

The Ravager line-up follows the original Guardians from the comics, and comprises Charlie-27 (Ving Rhames), Martinex (Michael Rosenbaum), Mainframe (Miley Cyrus), the Lem sorcerer Krugarr, and Stakar’s wife Aleta (Michelle Yeoh).

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is releasing in theatres on 5 May 2023, and serves as the epic conclusion to the trilogy as director James Gunn fully transitions to DC Studios. The movie will focus heavily on Rocket Raccoon’s backstory, with Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldaña (Gamora), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Vin Diesel (Baby Groot), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), and Pom Klementieff (Mantis) reprising their respective roles. Will Poulter is a new addition to the cast, stepping into the character of Adam Warlock.
