A Heroic And Final Send Off Awaits In ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’ Super Bowl Trailer

The Guardians of the Galaxy were never that premiere supergroup in the Marvel comics but see how far they’ve come. Under the auspices of James Gunn, Star Lord and gang have elevated themselves into one of the best-loved teams in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Given how James Gunn is now leading the DC cinematic universe, it looks like this bittersweet ending seems apt. Considering that off screen, Dave Bautista has been vocal about Drax and how Marvel had “dropped the ball” on his character. While he might have wanted to show more about Drax’s backstory and the character emotionally, it’s the end of the road for the Guardians of the Galaxy.

In the trailer above, we get the see Chukwudi Iwuji’s High Evolutionary mercilessly experimenting on Rocket Racoon but it just might be a misdirection. After all, we do know that the High Evolutionary has prone to such experiments and it might be a lead in to Rocket Racoon finding more of his people.

Lastly, Will Poulter’s Adam Warlock gets a bit more of the spotlight and shows off his cosmic powers but it’s still not enough to tell us if he’s friend or foe. Considering that the trailer drops on the eve of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Marvel is lining up a few possibilities who might be the next major antagonist for the Marvel Cinematic Universe between Kang, Adam Warlock, and the High Evolutionary.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 releases 3 May 2023.
