Final Fast & Furious Film Drifts To 2026, Gets Roller Coaster At Universal Studios Hollywood

After decades of racing on the streets and even in space, the Fast & Furious franchise will finally bring an end to the family’s adventures. The final film in the long-running series is set to release in 2026, with Fast X director Louis Leterrier dropping the update during a panel at CCXP México (via Collider).

Final Fast & Furious Film 2026

“It’s happening. It’s happening very, very soon. I’m able to shoot a little horror movie this summer. I’m finishing my horror movie on 15 September, and I start Fast on 16 September,” he said. “It’s filming early next year, and it’s coming out in 2026, which will be exactly to the day, 25 years since the first one came out.”

In the same year, the Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift roller coaster is also expected to grace Universal Studios Hollywood in California, USA. The ride will mark the park’s first high-speed outdoor roller coaster, and looks to live up to its name with a “groundbreaking 360-degree rotation of the individual ride vehicles as they rocket along an elaborate track.”

Not much else is known about the upcoming attraction or film. However, Leterrier has a tease for the movie-going crowd, confirming that the franchise’s last outing will see the Toretto clan return to Los Angeles, where the first Fast & Furious entry was set in.

“It’s exactly that. That’s what we wanna do. We wanna bring it back home, and still have a great big journey to tell,” shared the filmmaker, adding that he’s aware of how the franchise would ultimately conclude.

Unlike previous installments, the 11th mainline project plans to release as a duology. Vin Diesel, who plays Dom in the franchise, has hinted at a possible three-part ending, with no word on the returning cast just yet. As for Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, the Luke Hobbes star won’t be reprising his role.

As the Fast & Furious crew prepare to put the pedal to the metal once more, it won’t be the last audiences see of them — a female-led film is currently in the works at Universal Pictures, alongside several spin-offs.

While initially planned for debut on 5 April 2025, the upcoming entry will now premiere sometime in 2026. Leterrier is helming and producing 11817, his first horror work to date, in the meantime.
