NetEase Games and Everstone Studio are celebrating a major milestone as the free-to-play Wuxia ARPG, Where Winds Meet, has now hit over 100 million players worldwide. To further fuel excitement, the studio has also unveiled the launch of the game’s upcoming final story chapter, Hidden Mountain Chapter 3, which is set to launch on 16 September 2026.
“Reaching 100 million players across the globe is a dream come true for our entire team, and we are deeply grateful to every wanderer who has embarked on this journey with us,” said head of Where Winds Meet publishing, Eric, in a statement. “As we continue into our Version 2.0 stage with the expansion of the Jianghu, we remain fully committed to delivering richer stories, deeper combat, and even more breathtaking Wuxia experiences for our community in the months and years ahead.”
To celebrate this milestone, the team also released an announcement trailer for the grand finale of the game’s Hidden Mountain storyline, Perilous Eminence, which teases the long-awaited confrontation with Qianye, the mastermind who destroyed the protagonist’s home and stole their loved ones. Alongside the new story finale, the update will also introduce two special Bosses, two open-world field Bosses, and additional gameplay features and activities.
To help bring its Wuxia combat experience to life, the team has also appointed Yuen Woo-ping, the martial arts choreographer behind 2000’s Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, as its Global Action Consultant. Building on this, Where Winds Meet will also introduce a new martial arts set, Bamboo Cut – Draught, via an update on 3 September, which features visceral, hard-hitting impact paired with fluid, unpredictable movements inspired by Jackie Chan’s classic 1978 movie, Drunken Master.
To get ready for the upcoming updates, players can now dive into the Ghost Month event, which blends Wuxia with atmospheric Chinese horror elements and allows players to uncover a darker, supernatural side of Jianghu. In addition, the game will also be getting a brand-new Extraction Mode, adding a Wuxia twist to the popular genre by allowing players to fight head-on, hide in the shadows, or even disguise themselves using the environment as they set about looting treasures.
Where Winds Meet is now available for free on the PS5, PC, Android, and iOS.
