Buckle Up As ‘Fast X’ Duology Might Become A Three-Part Finale Instead

There’s no such thing as one last ride with the Fast family. The franchise is meant to wrap up with Fast X, a two-part finale movie, but leading man Vin Diesel hints that it might be a trilogy instead.

At the world premiere of Fast X in Rome, Diesel shared that a 12th Fast and Furious movie might be on the way. According to the 55-year old, Universal Pictures was keen on making the finale a trilogy instead of a two-parter after seeing Fast X.

“Going into making this movie, the studio asked if this could be a two-parter,” Diesel said. “And after the studio saw this one, they said, ‘Could you make Fast X, the finale, a trilogy?’”

Co-star and franchise veteran Michelle Rodriguez chimed that, “It’s three acts in any story.”

Neither Diesel or Rodriguez can confirm that a third movie is happening but they’re happy to prepare fans for a massive cliffhanger in the upcoming movie. The cliffhanger will lead int owhat was expected to be the 11th and final movie in the Fast and Furious saga.

“It is not really an ending, but it’s also like, ‘You can’t do this to us. We’re your die-hard fans, you can’t do this to us!’” said Rodriguez. “You’re going to feel so cheated in a way, but then so gratified and excited about what’s to come. I can’t divulge more than that, but get ready for a shocker. After 23 years of shooting these things, it’s really tough at this stage to shock me, and they got me good.”

Fast X reunites Diesel, Rodriguez, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, Jordana Brewster, John Cena, Nathalie Emmanuel, Ludacris and Helen Mirren. Rita Moreno, Brie Larson, Scott Eastwood, Daniela Melchior, Michael Rooker, Cardi B and Leo Abelo Perry are also set to star.
