The Fast & Furious franchise has gone places, quite literally, from the streets of Tokyo to space. Now, it’s heading to the small screen, as a new TV series is currently in the works at Peacock.

Speaking onstage at the NBCUniversal upfront presentation in New York on Monday with Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon, franchise star and producer Vin Diesel — who plays Dominic Toretto in the movies — announced that four projects are in the pipeline, though no plot details were shared.

“For the last decade, we have realised that the fans have wanted more,” he said. “They wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories. And for the last decade, the desire has been for us to enter the TV space that Fallon has mastered. And I had to wait till it was right… It became right when Donna Langley started to oversee it all, because that’s when I knew that the integrity of the characters, the international appeal, what makes us all feel like family would be protected in the TV space… The news that I have here today is that Peacock is launching four shows from the Fast and Furious universe.”

In light of the announcement, insiders at the streamer told The Hollywood Reporter that only one Fast & Furious show is set up for now, with the rest said to be in various stages of development at Universal TV (via Variety).

Diesel will executive produce the work-in-progress instalment alongside Sam Vincent, Neal Moritz, Pavun Shetty, Jeff Kirschenbaum and Chris Morgan, while Mike Daniels (Sons of Anarchy) and Wolfe Coleman (Shades of Blue) serve as co-showrunners. Should it move forward, the series will be the first in the franchise, which consists of the six-season animated series Fast & Furious Spy Racers, the spin-off feature Hobbs & Shaw, and 10 mainline films to date.

The 11th and penultimate entry, titled Fast Forever, is slated for release on 17 March 2028, with The Hunger Games prequels scribe Michael Lesslie tapped to pen the script. It’s unclear if Louis Leterrier, who replaced Justin Lin as director on Fast X, remains at the helm, but legacy cast members Michelle Rodriguez, who plays Dominic’s wife Letty Ortiz, Tyrese Gibson (Roman Pearce), Ludacris (Tej Parker), Nathalie Emmanuel (Ramsey), Sung Kang (Han Lue), Jordana Brewster (Mia Toretto), Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw), and Charlize Theron (Cipher) are all expected to reprise their roles.
