Emmanuelle Chriqui Is Lana Lang In Upcoming Superman & Lois TV Series

Film and TV actress Emmanuelle Chriqui has landed the role of Clark Kent’s other best friend and sometimes love interest in the Superman & Lois TV series, the latest small screen outing featuring DC Comics’ Man of Steel.

The 44-year old star, last seen on TV’s The Passage and heard as Cheetera on the Thundercats reboot animated series, joins Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch, who play Superman/Clark Kent and Lois Lane respectively.

In this latest incarnation of fandom’s most famous superhero coupling, Superman and Lois are married and have twin sons , which means the Last Son of Krypton has to juggle saving the world and parenthood.

This version is also an extension of the CW’s Arrowverse, a long-running multi-series show that started off with Arrow, and includes The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl and more recently, Batwoman. It is will be produced by The Flash executive producer Todd Helbing, along with DC’s TV Universe architect Greg Berlanti and Warner Bros. TV.

The last actress to take on Lana Lang on TV was Kristen Kruek across seven seasons of Smallville, which starred Tom Welling as a pre-Superman Clark Kent, who only partially donned the iconic red, blue and yellow in the final episode of the 10-season series. His character was finally given a send-off in last year’s Crisis on Infinite Earths Arrowverse cross-over.

Chriqui’s plays Lana Lang-Cushing, a loan officer at Smallville Bank who stayed in Superman’s hometown while others left for something bigger and brighter. The series regular character re-establishes her friendship with her old friend, Clark Kent, during one of the most difficult periods in her life.

While she was created in the comics as an early love-interest of Clark Kent while he was in Smallville, the character of Lana Lang has evolved over the decades, going from friend and confidante, to protagonist and CEO of Lexcorp, and more recently, albeit temporarily, as Superwoman.
