Dragon Quest of the Stars Mobile RPG Finally Comes To The West In 2020

Dragon Quest, much like Final Fantasy, is held very much dear to its fans across the globe. However, much like its JRPG step-sibling, players from the West usually gain access to English versions of the games years after the original release.

Its mobile entries, sadly, aren’t that much different, it seems. The title in question is Dragon Quest of the Stars. Square Enix has announced that the mobile game, which first debuted in Japan in 2015, will be making its way to the West sometime in early 2020 for Android and iOS.

This won’t be the first mobile game that Square Enix will be launching for the Dragon Quest franchise, with Dragon Quest Walk coming to Android and iOS to take on the likes of Pokémon Go and Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.

This mobile RPG functions like a typical gacha-style game, where you’ll be fighting monsters for in-game currency, and then using that to purchase loot boxes for randomised rewards.

Of course, the catch here is that it’ll utilise the signature artwork by Akira Toriyama, also of Dragon Ball Z fame, as well as renowned aillustrator Kanahei.
