Deadpool Writers Are Developing Twisted Metal TV Series For Sony

Mean cars, explosions and destruction are all that we envision when we come across the name Twisted Metal. It has been a while but the cherished franchise on the original PlayStation that sold over 5 million copies returns, as a live-action TV series.

Headed by Sony Pictures TV and PlayStation Productions, the new series is an action-comedy based on the 1995 game originally released on the PlayStation. Twisted Metal is a demolition derby game that puts players and their destructive vehicles into a deathmatch. The last man (and his vehicle) standing wins.

Writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick behind the films Deadpool and Zombieland will be working on the series.

The series will be about a motor-mouthed stranger that gets a second chance in life if he delivers a mysterious package across the post-apocalyptic wasteland. As he rides across the badlands, he encounters marauders and their deadly vehicles, including an all too familiar deranged clown and his ice cream truck. Sweet Tooth anyone?

After the announcement of the “The Last of Us” adaption featuring Game of Thrones stars Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey, this is Sony Pictures TV’s and PlayStation Production’s second big project bringing fans their favourite games on to the cinematic screen.
