Crunchyroll Anime Awards 2024 Recap: ‘Jujutsu Kaisen’ Takes Spotlight & Full Winners List

The 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards dazzled fans worldwide with a star-studded ceremony streamed live on the platform’s YouTube and Twitch channels last Saturday at 6:00 p.m. JST. The event rolled out the Orange Carpet for celebrity guests from around the globe, who celebrated their passion for anime by presenting awards across 32 categories.

This year’s awards saw an unprecedented turnout, with votes from a record-breaking 34 million anime enthusiasts from nearly 200 countries and regions, a significant increase from last year’s 18 million votes.

Kicking off with an electrifying performance of the Anime Awards’ new theme song by renowned composers Hiroyuki Sawano (Attack on Titan, Solo Leveling) and Kohta Yamamoto (Attack on Titan, The Seven Deadly Sins), the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards ceremony was hosted in Tokyo by Sally Amaki and Jon Kabira, featuring a diverse array of presenters. Among them were Megan Thee Stallion and LiSA, The Marvels‘ Iman Vellani, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse‘s Joaquim Dos Santos, Phil Lord & Chris Miller, director Bong Joon Ho, NFL star DeMarcus Lawrence, wrestler Mercedes Varnado, and Indian actor Rashmika Mandanna.

Dominating the awards, Chainsaw Man and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Swordsmith Village Arc snagged multiple accolades. However, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 stole the show, clinching awards for Best Character Design, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Action, Best Supporting Character, Best Opening Sequence, and the prestigious Anime of the Year.
