NVIDIA’s New RTX 3050 Desktop GPU Is The Cheapest Way To Experience Ray Tracing And DLSS

Over CES 2022, NVIDIA has announced its new budget graphics card, the RTX 3050, which will start at S$390. Like other NVIDIA RTX GPUs, it is built on Nvidia’s Ampere architecture, which means it supports technology such as Deep Learning Super Sampling (DLSS) and ray tracing.

Along with 8GB of GDDR memory, this is not only the cheapest NVIDIA RTX graphics card so far, it is still able to offer 60fps ray-traced gaming at 1080p despite being an entry-level option. However, the RTX 3050 isn’t actually a new GPU. It has been available for laptops such as the ASUS TUF Dash F15, for example. The difference here is that the NVIDIA is now making the GPU available as discrete units, able to be fitted into desktop PCs.

The affordability and performance of the RTX 3050 will likely lead to huge demand, and with the ongoing semiconductor shortage, it is unclear whether supply will be able to keep up with it. The RTX 3050 will be available from 27 January 2022, and hopefully there will be enough GPUs for everyone who wants one.
