PlayStation and FromSoftware’s punishingly difficult RPG Bloodborne is being turned into an R-rated animated movie, with Sony Pictures tapping YouTuber jacksepticeye to produce the feature.

As reported by Variety, Sony Pictures Entertainment Motion Picture Group president Sanford Panitch promised that the film would be “very true” to the spirit of the 2015 game during a presentation at CinemaCon 2026. While no further details on the upcoming title were announced, the animated film will be co-produced by PlayStation Productions, Lyrical Animation, and online creator Seán McLoughlin, better known by his pseudonym jacksepticeye.
McLoughlin is an Irish YouTuber whose videos focus primarily on gaming Let’s Plays and comedy. A known face in the industry, he currently has a total of 31.2 million subscribers on YouTube, with a combined viewship of 17.5 billion. Over the years, he has constantly stated that Blooborne was his favourite game of all time, as evident by the multiple Let’s Plays posted on his channel of the game, and now, he will be producing its animated film adaptation, marking a true full circle moment.
“I am going to do everything in my power to make this the BEST Bloodborne adaptation possible,” McLoughlin said in a post on Reddit announcing his involvement in the project. “Not only is it my favourite game ever made, but I know how truly passionate the fans of this game are and how much hunger they have for more of it.”

The Bloodborne animated film marks the latest in a recent string of video game film adaptations, with Sony Pictures also recently announcing their adaptation of the popular PlayStation multiplayer title, Helldivers, helmed by Fast & Furious director Justin Lin. The studio has also recently wrapped filming for the upcoming The Legend of Zelda live-action flick, which stars Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Bo Bragason as Link and Princess Zelda, respectively.
