Game Science’s smash-hit action souls-like Black Myth: Wukong has clinched the title of Ultimate Game of the Year at the Golden Joysticks Awards, and its developers have teased more things to come this year for fans of the title.
In a video message posted by Golden Joysticks Awards on X/Twitter, Game Science co-founder Feng Ji thanked the fans for their support, encouraged new players to try out the game, and treated returning fans to more upcoming “surprises” for the year.

“If you haven’t played Black Myth: Wukong yet, you are in luck, now you have one more reason to give it a try!” Ji said, “Of course, you might have already completed our game, that’s perfectly fine too. Keep following us, and there might just be some surprises waiting for you later this year.”
The win comes as no surprise, as the title has been making headlines all over since its launch on 20 August this year, selling a whopping 10 million copies in just three days and reaching a milestone of three million concurrent players across all platforms — a staggering earning, considering its reported US$70 million budget over a six-year development period.
So what are these “surprises” that await us? It’s anyone’s guess at this point, but with the recent news that the game is set for an Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree-style expansion over any sequel, it seems likely that we’re due for a reveal next month.
Another likely date for a big reveal could come on 12 December, coinciding with The Game Awards, where the title has already been nominated for four categories, including Game of the Year, Best Game Direction, Best Art Direction and Best Action Game, and a win in any of these would certainly be a great opportunity to drop major news about the title.
Black Myth: Wukong was released on 20 August 2024, and was a true graphical showcase on the PC. For more, check out the game’s performance test on our beefy NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 GPU below:
