To commemorate the release of the fourth Rebuild of Evangelion series, the Aonami train line in Nagoya has been renamed to Ayanami Line.
That’s not all, Evangelion 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon Time‘s Rei Ayanami and Eva Unit-00 will also be on the forefront of the trains at the Nagoya Rinkai Rapid Transit line until 31 May. Additionally, original Ayanami Line merchandise are available to the public for purchase at the station itself. Fans may even catch a glimpse of the character’s large display on the way.
This isn’t the first Evangelion themed train that made its unique appearance. In 2015, Japan launched the Neon Genesis Evangelion themed bullet train, and it is just as eye-catching.
Aside from debuting a themed train line, other promotional stunts were done for the release of Evangelion: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon Time. Not too long ago, a Giant Longinus Spear was found at Tokyo SkyTree and Evangelion rations were being distributed all over theatres in Japan. With all these creative efforts in promoting the anime, it is no wonder it’s doing so well at Japan’s box office.
