All roads lead back to Raccoon City…
At least, that’s the way it seems for Bryan (Austin Abrams, Weapons), a medical courier who’s tasked with making a delivery to the Raccoon City General Hospital, only for a mysterious outbreak to occur in Resident Evil, the upcoming film adaptation based on Capcom’s iconic survival horror gaming franchise.
Directed by Zach Cregger (Weapons, Barbarian), the film will offer the director’s unique take on the franchise, set in the same universe as the games but featuring a completely new narrative with original characters. The plot might be new, but keen-eyed fans can definitely expect some video game references in store, alongside a horde of shambling zombies.
The movie might focus on Bryan’s fight for survival, but that’s not to say that it won’t have any familiar elements from the gaming franchise, as the iconic fictional multinational conglomerate, the Umbrella Corporation, will also make an appearance, with Zach Cherry (Fallout), Kali Reis (True Detective), and Paul Walter Hauser (The Naked Gun) co-starring as Umbrella scientists Dave, Pauline, and Carl, respectively.
