Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil film adaptation continues to show strong performance at the box office, with the reboot now becoming the filmmaker’s top-grossing film with a worldwide haul of US$320.2 million.

As reported by Deadline, the film secured another US$8.4 million domestically over its fourth weekend, and with its new combined total, has now surpassed Cregger’s previous top film, 2025’s Weapons, overtaking its already impressive US$270 million haul.
Still, based on weekend box office earnings alone, Resident Evil only managed to secure third place, with Universal and Blumhouse’s horror film Other Mommy topping the list with a US$27.5 million domestic debut despite being one of the worst-rated films of the year. The movie also garnered an additional US$17.69 million at the international box office, bringing its global tally to US$45.19 million.
Directed by Rob Savage (Host), Other Mommy stars Jessica Chastain in a dual role as a sinister being tormenting a child and her family while having a face that resembles the girl’s mother, and is based on the 2024 novel Incidents Around the House by Josh Malerman.

In second place was Amazon MGM’s psychological thriller Verity, which earned another US$11.4 million domestically over its second weekend. The film, which stars Anne Hathaway and Dakota Johnson, is based on Colleen Hoover’s best-selling novel and follows a struggling writer as she is hired to ghostwrite the remaining books of an incapacitated bestselling author.
Rounding out the top five earners this box office weekend was Paramount’s Heart Of The Beast (US$7.1 million) at fourth place, which centres on a former soldier portrayed by Brad Pitt and a loyal combat dog as they try to survive the Alaskan wilderness, and Facebook drama sequel The Social Reckoning (US$5.5 million), which sees Jeremy Strong taking over the role of Mark Zuckerberg from Jesse Eisenberg and follows the events that gave rise to the Wall Street Journal’s 2021 exposé, The Facebook Files.
