It won’t be a Star Wars x Adidas collaboration without paying homage to one of the biggest characters of all time. And we mean that in the literal sense, with these new kicks representing the legendary Chewbacca. After doing silhouettes for the likes of Luke Skywalker, Han Solo, Leia Organa, Stormtrooper, and Boba Fett, how can one not give some love to the iconic Wookie?
Rightfully so, the Star Wars x Adidas Orignals Rivalry Hi “Chewbacca” has to be a high-top sneaker to be more faithful to the size of Han’s best friend.
To bring out Chewy’s fluff (literally), the shoe’s leather-and-suede upper is decked out in a faux fur fabric that permeates the toe box, laces, sides. and tongue. His equally-iconic bowcaster holster runs across the laces (much like how the Han Solo sneakers feature his blaster holster running down the upper). Complementing the look is a host of earthy tones to accentuate the Wookie-ness, including a mix of browns on the upper, and an off white insole and outsole.
Like the rest of the Star Wars x Adidas shoes that have been released this year, the tongue sports artwork featuring Chewbacca, and the underside of the tongue features a homage to the 40th anniversary of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. As with the rest of the sneakers in this collaboration, the lace deubres spell out “STAR WARS”, and can be swapped with “Chewbacca” and a miniature Millennium Falcon.
The Star Wars x Adidas Originals Rivalry Hi “Chewbacca” will release on 21 October on the Adidas website, and will retail for £119.95 (US$155).
