Adidas And Star Wars Join Forces Once More In Luke Skywalker Stan Smith Sneakers

It’s been 40 years since the theatrical debut of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, arguably the greatest story in the series ever to be told. And it’s only befitting that footwear giant Adidas is back to collaborate with the iconic franchise once more.

This time, it will do so in a pair of Luke Skywalker-themed Adidas Stan Smith shoes. The clean white-and-blue colourway is a befitting nod to Luke himself.

If one were to break down its significance, the blue parts are a callback to his blue lightsaber, and the white could either be a play on his Jedi allegiance, or – more obscurely – Cloud City, the place where he first learned that Darth Vader was his father.

The latter theory is directly linked to the “Noooo!!!” lettering embossed on the outsoles, which is a really cool way to present the iconic moment in the movie. Additional nods to Luke are the small black-and-white depiction of him on the tongue, the Rebel insignia on the heel area, and, most prominently, prints of him in Cloud City itself on the insoles.

The sneakers come in Adidas’ signature Star Wars galaxy print box, which also comes with a set of four enamel pins depicting R2D2, Luke’s Lightsaber, his X-Wing, as well as Yoda.

The Adidas Stan Smith Luke Skywalker sneakers will release on 23 July on the Adidas official online store, and will retail for US$120.
