James Gunn Says No Delay With Suicide Squad And Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Despite many movies being shoved back the release schedule due to the COVID-19 pandemic, director James Gunn is confident that his upcoming films, The Suicide Squad and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, won’t be delayed.

Recently, Gunn took to Twitter to answer some fan questions, among which he revealed that The Suicide Squad is still on track for its theatrical release on 6 August 2021.

Similarly, he also gave the lowdown that plans for Guardians Vol. 3 “are exactly the same as they were before the coronavirus”, despite not having a release date as of yet.

Gunn’s upcoming films have no doubt been highly-anticipated for various reasons. The former will see the return of Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, alongside other familiar faces in Viola Davis as Amanda Waller, and Joel Kinnaman as Colonel Rick Flag. They will be joined by new faces in Idris Elba, John Cena, as well as Taika Waititi.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is a more peculiar case, however. Given that Disney has officially pushed back a lot of its upcoming Marvel Studios films, including finished films like Black Widow, it remains to be seen just how far the movie will be pushed back the release schedule. But for now, we’ll hold it to Gunn’s word that it will see the light of day anyway.
