Xbox Hosting First Game Camp In Asia For Creators

If you’ve got a game idea that might just be the next big thing, you’re in luck, as Xbox Game Camp will be having its inaugural run in Asia. The mentorship programme will run from 20 February to 19 April 2024, and participants will get to meet experienced mentors in the industry and pitch their own games.

Participating countries include Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, India, and the Philippines. Competition to get into Xbox’s Game Camp will be intense, as only three teams from each of the five regions will get to participate, bringing the total number of teams across the regions to 15.

As long as you’re above 21 and studying or working in software development, visual arts, 3D, narrative design, project management or music and audio, you’ll be eligible to participate. The program has seen successful runs in Sweden, Africa, and Seoul, with companies like Bethesda and Mojang joining in on the fun.

The camp will include virtual sessions with live office hours and AMAs (Ask Me Anything) and mentorship sessions on various game development topics, focused skill-based modules, and plenty of opportunities to develop existing game ideas.

“The Xbox Game Studios Game Camp program is founded on the belief that extraordinary talent resides everywhere,” said Matt Booty, Head of Xbox Game Studios. “Through Game Camp Asia, we’re excited to deepen our relationships with Asian game creators, help them reach new players around the world, and learn from the passionate and talented game creators in the region.”
