Ultraman Visits Singapore Via Japanese Visual Artist’s Breathtaking Time-lapse Creations

Ultraman first made his debut in 1966, but his legacy has hardly eroded over the course of time. A beloved character in many parts of the world, the superhero continues to a relevant icon for geek culture (pun not intended) today, spawning many tributes, fan works, and the like. For one Satoshi “Miz” Mizushima, the creative process involves incorporating Ultraman into the landscape of Singapore.

A fervent dabbler of photography and videography, the Japanese visual artist often takes to Instagram to post his personal projects. The latest is a series of time-lapse videos and standalone stills that feature Ultraman towering over well-known locations, such as Gardens by the Bay, Marina Bay Sands, the Merlion, and more.

Often taken from a bottom-up angle, the photos help to bring out the full height of Ultraman, particularly in those that have an individual looking up. In others, the superhero is positioned to fight against the kaiju – and even Godzilla – with Singapore as the backdrop.

The accompanying time-lapse videos are equally creative and impressive. Whether it’s at night, during the day, or from dawn to dusk, there’s an Ultraman for every occasion, some of which may be viewed below:

More works pertaining to the Ultraman project can be viewed on Miz’s Instagram page, which also sees the superhero in various parts of Japan. It’s a pretty cool concept, and once again proves how the sky’s the limit when it comes to creativity. Have our vote, Miz!
