Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint Announced

Ubisoft has recently unveiled the latest entry to their famed tactical shooter series, Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint. The new entry to the Ghost Recon series will be launching on October 4 on Xbox family of consoles, PS4, and PC.

Taking cue from 2017’s Wildlands, Breakpoint will put players back in the shoes (or in this case, combat boots) of the US elite spec-ops unit called the Ghosts.

However, instead of breaking up drug cartels and other criminals, you’ll be up against former comrades – Ghosts gone rogue who have now called themselves the Wolves.

And heading the Wolves is former Punisher star Jon Bernthal, who reprises his role as Lt. Colonel Cole D. Walker from the latest update to Wildlands.

Like its predecessors, Ghost Recon Breakpoint will put an emphasis on co-op gameplay, with each member of the 4-man team taking on different roles and specialisations. Of course, you can take on all roles in a solo experience.

Breakpoint will reprise the open-world flexible tactical third-person gameplay that Wildlands was praised for. You’ll issue commands to your teammates in solo play, or freely swap between them depending on the situation.

Of course, it comes with nifty new additions such as an advanced injury and fatigue system, which will make your missions more challenging the more time you spend in them.

Thankfully, you now have the ability to carry downed teammates to a safer spot to heal them, blending into the environment using prone camo, and change classes and equipment loadout instantly using the mobile bivouac.

A standout new feature will be Raids. This is strictly endgame content, which will most likely feature more heavily in multiplayer. While there aren’t any details on Raids yet, you can expect something similar to the Dark Zones in The Division 2.

Breakpoint will also feature the ability to customise your own Ghost from the start of the game. Character progression will be retained as you progress through the story campaign and PvP modes.

As with most Ubisoft titles, Breakpoint will include post-launch content down the pipeline, with a bevvy of new classes, missions and other features slated for release.

Pre-orders for Breakpoint have begun. In which case, those who pre-ordered will be able to play the Beta closer to its launch date.

Aside from the base game, there will be three other editions that you can pre-order:

  • The Gold Edition includes the base game and the Year 1 Pass.
  • The Ultimate Edition includes the above and the Ultimate Pack.
  • The Wolves Collector Edition will include the above, as well as a 1/6-scale figurine of Lt. Colonel Cole D. Walker, a Steelbook, exclusive lithographs, Walker’s dog tag, a waterproof map of Aurora, and the official soundtrack.

Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint will officially launch on October 4 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Beta registrations for the game have begun, although slots are limited. Pre-order the game to guarantee your Beta spot.
