The Suicide Squad Sets New Viewership Record With Red Band Trailer

The highly awaited The Suicide Squad has set a new record without even showing yet. The trailer takes the crown away from Mortal Kombat and acquired most views in a week.

Director James Gunn shared his thoughts on Twitter upon hearing the news: “I’m incredibly grateful to all of you for making this happen! THANK YOU!”

The trailer focused on DC’s very own villains and anti-heroes garnered over 151 million views since its release, a far gap from Mortal Kombat’s 116 million. Even Mortal Kombat‘s fierce fighter Liu Kang, played by Ludi Lin, acknowledged the defeat on Twitter.

The Suicide Squad

The Suicide Squad is looking promising, especially with the red band trailer that showcases all sorts of weird, wild and crazy shenanigans the squad gets up to. With such a star-studded cast involved, including the return of Birds of Prey’s Harley Quinn played by Margot Robbie and Sylvester Stallone, we just can’t wrap our heads around Gunn’s insane vision of the movie.

The Suicide Squad premieres in theatres on 6 August 2021, with over 17 cast members who may or may not live long enough to see the light of day.
